  2. 2. Theodor Seuss Geisel<br />Born in 1904 in <br />Massachusetts<br />His mother sang him to sleep with nursery rhymes.<br />I wonder if that has anything to do with his natural ability to rhyme?<br />Dr. Seuss<br />
  3. 3. Dr. Seuss<br />He attended Dartmouth College, where he became the editor in chief of their humor magazine.<br />Do you know what an editor in chief does?<br />This is where he first <br /> started signing his name<br /> as “Seuss.”<br />
  4. 4. Dr. Seuss<br />Ted went on to study at Oxford, in England, this is where he met his first wife Helen Palmer.<br />After returning to the states, he pursued a career as a cartoonist.<br />What do you think a cartoonist does?<br />

  6. 6. Dr. Seuss<br />He also created animated films during World War II.<br />After that, he started illustrating a collection of children’s sayings. The book was not very successful.<br />
  7. 7. But his illustrations were noticed and this is how he came to write his first book, “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street.”<br />It was rejected 27 times before it was published.<br />What does it mean to publish a book?<br />Dr. Seuss<br />
