Operating on 7 continents, 5 oceans and 315 ports worldwide
Carnival Cruise is dedicated to providing our 1.3 million passengers and crew from 77 different countries the most ethical working practices possible.
All of our staff represents our six core values: We Serve, Innovate, Respect our team, are steady, are accountable, and we do right. And it is values such as these that have molded us into one of the most successful cruise lines in the world.
We respect our employees, port communities, and shareholders without forgetting the environment. We remain transparent to our stakeholders, customers, and clients in hopes to provide a trustworthy connection that will continue to flourish over generations to come.
We believe that being a member of a community means giving something back. We realize that our success is increasingly tied to protecting the environment and strengthening our port communities. We believe that “sustainability is not a cost of doing business, but a way of doing business” And we pride ourselves on being responsible corporate and global citizens
Our main focus is: Reducing air emissions, increasing energy efficiency, conserving fuel and water, reducing solid waste generation, managing waste streams responsibly, preventing oil pollution, increasing recycling and protecting marine life.
Carnival pioneeredshore power connection: connects the ships’ electrical network to the ashore local electrical network through various, cables, circuit breakers and control circuits. This process allows the ship to turn off its diesel powered engines while in port, thus greatly minimizing air emissions.
In 1993 we created our 1st environmental program (Planet Princess) : educates staff and crew on how to be outstanding conservationists Program Encourages 3 key principals: no solid waste is ever thrown overboard | we must recycle | we must conserve both energy & water
Since Carnival’s debut back in 1972, our company has supported a variety of charitable, philanthropic and arts-related organizations. Our philanthropic efforts can be arranged into 4 categories:
In these areas we have contributed more than $27 million dollars in the last 5 years to both local and national charities. Such as: The American Red Cross, Salvation Army, March of Dimes, United Way, and The New World Symphony Orchestral Academy
All of this support is made possible by both the Carnival Foundation and its Employee-Run Service Group: The Friends Uniting Neighbors Team based out of Southern Florida. Which was established in 1997 as a grassroots organization designed to go a step beyond traditional volunteer service initiatives, providing employees the opportunity to venture out into the community and offer help where it is needed most.
Last October, 25 members of the FUN team donated their time by volunteering at the Camillus House, a homeless assistance center in downtown Miami. Visit was an ongoing commitment to the Camillus House.
2010 Rachel Kram: 10yr veteran of Carnival Group Sales Department | Outstanding effort in helping the less fortunate in the South Florida Community2011 Perla Campos: 4yr veteran of Carnival Employee Services Department | Recognized for her helping efforts
Now comes the ultimate question: SO WHAT? Well, we are thriving. Within just this year our revenues increased over 7%, reaching $14.5 billion, we introduced 5 new vessels to the line, hired 4,000 more top-quality employees, and increased our passengers carried by 628 people. Also, further progress was made on our efforts to reduce fuel consumption, achieving an almost 3% reduction on a unit basis. People need cruises now more than ever. According to Expedia’s 2009 Vacation Deprivation Survey: 49.4 million Americans are vacation deprived. And here at Carnival Corporation we provide a luxurious, well-planned, safe and stress-free vacation environment for our customers. After all, we all have to sustain our own sanity first.
