+DefinitionProject-based learning is a dynamicapproach to teaching in which studentsexplore real-world problems andchallenges. With this type of active andengaged learning, students are inspiredto obtain a deeper knowledge of thesubjects theyre studying.
+Importance Project Based Learning teaches students 21 st century skills aswell as content. These skills include communication andpresentation skills, organization and time management skills,research and inquiry skills, self-assessment and reflection skills,and group participation and leadership skills. Project Based Learning is generally done by groups of studentsworking together toward a common goal. Performance isassessed on an individual basis, and takes into account the qualityof the product produced, the depth of content understandingdemonstrated, and the contributions made to the ongoing processof project realization. Finally, Project Based Learning allows students to reflect upontheir own ideas and opinions, exercise voice and choice, andmake decisions that affect project outcomes and the learningprocess in general.
+How it applies to 21st century educationProject based learning applies to the 21stcentury education because it helps thestudent engage in their assignment. It allowsthe student to understand the assignment inall aspects. When PBL is used with 21st-century tools/skills, students are expected touse technology in meaningful ways to helptheminvestigate, collaborate, analyze, synthesizeand present their learning.
