1. 1. ACT Prep<br />The In’s and Out’s of the National ACT test <br />
2. 2. Being familiar with the structure of the ACT can give you confidence in taking the test and lead to a better score<br />FACT<br />
3. 3. English Test: 45 minutes- 75 questions<br />Math Test: 60 minutes- 60 Questions<br />Reading Test: 35 minutes- 40 questions<br />Science Test: 35 minutes- 40 questions<br />Format<br />
4. 4. The questions on the ACT are NOT arranged in order of Difficulty<br />If you are stumped by the 1st few questions do not worry- you may find later questions easier<br />FACT<br />

Every question on the ACT is multiple choice <br /><ul><li>even-numbers questions are </li></ul> labeled (A) through (D)<br /><ul><li>odd-numbered are labeled (F) through (J)</li></ul>Fill in the ovals dark and completely but without getting outside the ovals line<br />Answering the questions<br />
6. 6. The ACT is scored by a machine. <br />The Machine grades based on how your marks look (if they are clear) NOT by what you meant to mark.<br />Fact<br />
7. 7. Detailed Scoring<br />Each individual section of the test has it’s own score. <br />Scale score- what you see after your raw score has been interpreted. Will range anywhere from 1 to 36<br />Percentile ranking- the percentage of people who performed better or worse then you on the test<br />
8. 8. Composite Score<br />This is the overall number that summarizes your success on the ACT (1-36)<br />An average of what you received on the four main test sections<br />Used by MOST colleges and university's in the admissions process<br />
9. 9. Know the directions ahead of time <br />(Example: Best Answer Vs. Correct Answer)<br />Read CAREFULLY! Avoid Careless mistakes<br />PACE yourself!!<br />Answer easier questions first<br />Check your answer sheet<br />Develop a strategy for guessing <br />(use process of elimination to narrow it down before you guess)<br />Test Taking Tips!<br />
10. 10. Yes, you should guess! Always ANSWER EVERYTHING! <br />You do not get penalized on the ACT for wrong answers. You just get a point for right answers. So answer every question!<br />FACT<br />
11. 11. More Tips<br />RELAX the day before the ACT<br />Before you head to bed the night before make sure you have everything you need for the test the next day.<br />
12. 12. Primary Enrolled Online Student Test Dates, (11th grade)<br />Online students will receive a voucher to use when they register for the ACT and must take this with them to the test, on test day<br />
13. 13. Test Dates for any student online or in building<br />
