If you have been planning to discover Ireland for some time you no doubt will have arranged
time off work and saved up money enough to enjoy your vacation to your own specific set of
standards. When you travel to Ireland you will most certainly want to make the most of it and
to do so you will need to make a few core decisions:
When should I go?
How will I get there?
What should I pack?
How much will it cost me?
Is it best to go independently or on a tour?
Ireland destination is best done on a shoestring budget. It is one of those rare places where the
more money you spend on luxurious arrangements, the more isolated you will be from one of
Irelands greatest attractions, the people and the beauty of the place.
Peak season for travel to Ireland is from June through the middle of September. Prices drop
considerably from the latter half of September to mid December and then drop again until June.
The costs during the winter months are quite low but travel in the winter can be miserable. The
Irish will be the first to tell you that the month of May is the best month to be in Ireland, the sun
is out, the temperatures are pleasant, the flowers are blooming and the airfares are low.
When you consult a map of Ireland you will quickly realize that even though the North is part
of Britain and the South is an independent nation, it is still an island. There are only two ways to
get there, one is by plane from literally anywhere in the world and the other is by boat from
either North or South Wales. Commercial flights are no different than any other country, plenty
of them. As Ireland is a prime tourist destination many charter flights are available at low prices,
2. these can be found with a simple internet search. Charter flights may not provide the same level
of comfort and service as a full fare airline but you will get there nevertheless.
Ireland is fairly laid back and informal, dress is casual and it is not a country where people are on
a continuous fashion parade. When Ireland is your destination consider bringing clothes that
layer nicely and are easy to care for. The weather can be very unpredictable at any time of the
year so clothing that you can add to or take from will prove to be the most practical. Be
comfortable, travel light. No one will care if you wear the same jeans for 3 days; anyway, there
are laundry facilities that will give same day service. Just imagine, when you pack light you will
have plenty of room to bring home all the wonderful treasures you will find as your tour Ireland.
