  2. 2. “ Never before has man pursued global harmony more vocally while amassing stock piles Of weapons so devastating in their effect.” The Quote
  3. 3. Compares to watchmen The real cold war compares to the watchmen Because watchmen takes Place during a cold war. There are two sides to the war USA and Soviet Union. They are in an arms race. The similarities end there, Because usa finds a Super human being who Quickly becomes a weapon For the USA against the Soviet Union.
  4. 4. the quote in real life terms Both sides of the cold war (United sates and the soviet union aka Russia) wanted to have Piece and harmony but that time was an arms war. The winner would be decided upon producing the most nuclear missiles and bombs. So this put both sides on the edge. Nether side wanted to be obliterated, Even so they still all were afraid of nuclear Holocaust.
  5. 5. USA's and Russian war relations Before the war, America had depicted the Soviet Union as almost the devil-incarnate. The Soviet Union had depicted America likewise so their ‘friendship’ during the war was simply the result of having a mutual enemy - Nazi Germany. In fact, one of America’s leading generals, Patton, stated that he felt that the Allied army should unite with what was left of the Wehrmacht in 1945, utilize the military genius that existed within it (such as the V2’s etc.) and fight the oncoming Soviet Red Army. Churchill himself was furious that Eisenhower, as supreme head of Allied command, had agreed that the Red Army should be allowed to get to Berlin first ahead of the Allied army. His anger was shared by Montgomery, Britain’s senior military figure .
  6. 6. USA's Perception of the soviet union the us believed that the soviet union was a bad and evil place and filled with useless and devilish things. they thought that they were the reincarnation of the devil.
  7. 7. Soviet Union's view on the USA They thought that the US was a greedy and incompetent Country that only wanted money and power They were afraid of the USA's thirst for power. So they raced to produce equal numbers of weapons.
  8. 8. The cold war comes to a conclusion In the late 1980s, the Cold War came to a dramatic end. The economies of nations behind the Iron Curtain were in trouble. People in East Germany, for instance, could see the prosperity and wealth of their West German neighbors. In Russia, there were long lines of people waiting to buy food. They had to have coupons from the government just to buy socks. Some historians believe that the trillions of dollars that both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. spent on nuclear arms and conventional armies had caused the problems in Russia. There was also a lot of pent up demand for freedom in the citizens living behind the Iron Curtain.
