Bible Study Are you 1. Born Again? 2. 2. Saved?•Most of the Christians, living in Pakistan today, are merelyChristians in name only.•Because they were born into a Christian family.•BUT the Bible teaches us that we must personally accept the LordJesus as our Savior or we are not Christians.
Fear of the LORD (Proverbs 9:10 NIV) "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Job 28:28 NIV) And he said to man, The fear of the Lord-- that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding." (Psa 111:10 NIV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. (Prov 1:7 NIV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
The fear of the LORD (Prov 9:10 NIV) "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Prov 15:33 NIV) The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. (Isa 11:2 NIV) The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD-- (Isa 33:6 NIV) He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure. (Micah 6:9 NIV) Listen! The LORD is calling to the city-- and to fear your name is wisdom-- "Heed the rod and the One who appointed it.
So then how can we be sure that we are saved ?The Bible tells us that we can only be saved if we have a change of mind about who Christ is. This is called “Metanoia” meaning a Change of mind or repentance about who Jesus Christ is. This is a pre-requisite to being saved. Only after God changes our mind about Christ can we be saved. (2 Peter 3:9 NIV) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (Metanoia).
Only GOD can open our eyes….The lord Jesus Christ is asking his disciples a very important question. By extension He isasking you the same question!(Matthew 16:15 NIV) "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?“(Mat 16:16 NIV) Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.“(Mat 16:17 NIV) Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was notrevealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
Jesus warned us John 8:24 (NIV) I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.“ Matthew 7:21 (NASB) "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. What is the will of the Father (in this reference) John 5:23 (NASB) in order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. John 5:24 (NASB) "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
New birthJohn 3:3 (NASB) Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say toyou, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."FaithEphesians 2:8 (NASB) For by grace you have been saved through faith; and thatnot of yourselves, it is the gift of God; The Bible tells us, that we are saved byfaith in Jesus Christ. But how do we get this “Saving Faith” to begin with ?Romans 10:17 (NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word ofChrist.
The Word of GodPsalms 119:11 (NIV) I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin againstyou.King David tells us in Psalms that he has memorized God’s word so that he will not sinagainst God. A good example for us to follow.Ephesians 6:11 (NASB) Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to standfirm against the schemes of the devil. Here the apostle Paul tells us to put on God’s armour or the Word of God, so we can dobattle and be victorious with the Devil and his evil hosts.Ephesians 6:13 (NASB) Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be ableto resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Resist the Devil?James 4:7 (NASB) Submit therefore to God. Resist thedevil and he will flee from you.Matthew 4:4 (KJV) But he answered and said, It iswritten, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by everyword that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.Acts 19:11 (NASB) And God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands ofPaul, (12) so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to thesick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out. (13) But also some of theJewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those whohad the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure (command) you byJesus whom Paul preaches." (14) And seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chiefpriest, were doing this. (15) And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognizeJesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" (16) And the man, in whom wasthe evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, sothat they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Children of GodRomans 8:15 (NIV) For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again tofear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." (16)The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Gods children.Notice evil spirits know a Christian and recognizehim or her. They also submit to a Christianbecause we are the children of the Living God.They do not recognize a person merely becausehe uses Jesus’s name or quotes Holy Scripture. You first need to be declared a spiritual child ofGod.
Ready DefensePeter 3:15 (NASB) but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready tomake a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is inyou, yet with gentleness and reverence;Christians are commanded tobe ready, with the Word ofGod in their hearts andminds to explain why theyare saved. Are you ready tomake a defense for yourChristian beliefs ?
Person of ChristJohn 20:28 (NASB) Thomas answered & said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" John20:29 Jesus said^ to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessedare they who did not see, and yet believed.“We as Christians, must understand, that we are savedby faith in a unique person, who is Fully Man and FullyGod, that person is our risen Lord and Saviour, TheAlmighty God, Jesus Christ. Otherwise we are dead inour sins. The apostle Thomas recognized Jesus as hisLord and his God. Note Jesus told us that we are moreblessed than Thomas, because unlike him, we believeeven though we have not seen or touched physicallythe Risen Christ.
Spiritual Darkness(Mat 5:14 NASB) "You (Christians) are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannotbe hidden.(Mat 5:16 NASB) "Let your light shine beforemen in such a way that they may see yourgood works, and glorify your Father who is inheaven.(Mat 6:23 NASB) "But if your eye is bad, yourwhole body will be full of darkness. Iftherefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
The Great Commission(Mat 28:19 NASB) "Go therefore and makedisciples of all the nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and the Son and theHoly Spirit,(Mat 28:20 NASB) teaching them toobserve all that I commanded you; and lo, Iam with you always, even to the end of theage."
So what are our goals in this Bible Study Class (2 Tim 2:15 NASB) Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth. To be able to answer anyone’s questions about our faith. To be the Light of the world. The greater the Light, the lesser the darkness. To convert the unsaved, so called Christians to “Disciples” To prevent this verse of scripture from applying to us. (1 Tim 4:1 NASB) But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons. To arm the average Christian to answer Cults that knock at his door, such as Jehovah’s Witnesses and others. (Mat 7:15 NASB) "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
