  2. 2. Welcome! <ul><li>Students will… </li></ul><ul><li>Examine intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of children birth through adolescences </li></ul><ul><li>Participate in the Baby Think it Over (BTIO) Program </li></ul>
  3. 3. Welcome!…Continued <ul><li>Participate in class discussions and in-class activities </li></ul><ul><li>Complete a variety of assignments, current events, and projects including the collection of resources put together to form your child development notebook </li></ul>

Rules and Guidelines <ul><li>ATTENDANCE </li></ul><ul><li>Please be in your assigned seat when the bell rings! </li></ul><ul><li>Tardy Policy </li></ul><ul><ul><li>First– Teacher detention </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Second – Teacher detention </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Third – Call home - detention </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Fourth – Office referral </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>*Detention is 15 min. served with me before/after school or on Fridays during lunch. </li></ul></ul>

Rules and Guidelines <ul><li>SUPPLIES NEEDED: </li></ul><ul><li>Pen/pencil, notebook paper, planner </li></ul><ul><li>FCS bucks </li></ul><ul><li>Three-ring binder or folder to keep child development resources in </li></ul><ul><li>The binder will be kept here at school and will be turned in at the end of the semester (HINT: It is worth a lot of points!! Please keep it organized throughout the semester!) </li></ul>

Rules and Guidelines <ul><li>Please validate respect to the teacher and your fellow classmates; NO negativity towards others will be tolerated! </li></ul><ul><li>You will respect school property and that of your classmate’s </li></ul><ul><li>All other rules that apply can be found in the East High student handbook </li></ul>
  7. 7. Rules and Guidelines <ul><li>NO FOOD OR DRINK!! (unless you have a note from the nurse or it is part of a Friday child development, FCCLA, or special activity) </li></ul><ul><li>Absolutely no cell phones or other electronic devices such as I-PODS! They are not to be used in the classroom! PLEASE keep these items put away until after/before school! </li></ul>
  8. 8. Grading <ul><li>Grades are based on points earned on daily assignments, tests/quizzes, projects, and the child development notebook </li></ul><ul><li>Attendance is important as a MAJORITY of the work is done in class </li></ul>
  9. 9. Late Work <ul><li>All work missed due to absences will be given an “F” or “zero” until the appropriate work has been completed. YOU are responsible for late work! </li></ul><ul><li>Assignments just one day late will automatically have a 20% point deduction! </li></ul>
  10. 10. Grading <ul><li>EXTRA CREDIT: </li></ul><ul><li>Offered throughout the semester </li></ul><ul><li>Must be turned in before the final exam </li></ul><ul><li>Please see me if you have an idea for an extra credit project </li></ul>
  11. 11. $$FCS BUCKS $$ <ul><li>Earn FCS bucks… </li></ul><ul><li>By being in class and being on time </li></ul><ul><li>Random acts of kindness </li></ul><ul><li>By having perfect attendance at the end of term one </li></ul><ul><li>Earning them for prizes or games </li></ul><ul><li>Being selected student of the month </li></ul>

Why should I save FCS bucks?? <ul><li>Final Exam Exemption </li></ul><ul><ul><li>100 bucks to be exempt from the final exam and an A/B grade and 4 or less absences (this works in addition to the school’s final exam exemption policy) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Extra Credit </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Up to 20 bucks each term can be turned in as extra credit points or to make up an assignment </li></ul></ul>
  13. 13. Text Book Policy <ul><li>DO NOT LOSE YOUR TEXTBOOK! IT WILL COST YOU A LOT OF MONEY!! </li></ul>

FCS Student of the Month <ul><li>FCS Student of the Month will be awarded to one student from the child development, personal health and development, and fashion class each month </li></ul><ul><li>This student must: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Have good attendance </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Turn in and complete work </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Show respect to others </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Be a model student </li></ul></ul>
