News Advisory: Path Graduation Ceremony

  1. 1. News Advisory June 20, 2007 Contact: Kai Stansberry/323·644·2212; FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Cell: 213·761·0159 kais@pathpartners.org POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCES… Formerly Homeless Clients Graduate into Permanent Housing and Employment Congratulations to the Class of 2007… (Los Angeles) – PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) will be hosting its 4th annual Graduation ceremony this Thursday, June 21 from 6-8pm at the Regional Homeless Center in Los Angeles (340 N. Madison Avenue). PATH graduates are formerly homeless individuals who have secured and maintained permanent housing and/or acquired full-time employment. PATH will be honoring 44 graduates, including Larry Johnson. Before he was referred to PATH’s Hollywood Center, Larry had been homeless, living in a tent on the streets of skid row for more than ten years. At PATH, Larry received shelter, support services and access to resources that enabled him to save money and search for permanent housing. On May 1st, after paying his first and last months security deposit and signing a rental agreement, Larry was given the keys to his new apartment in East Hollywood. Highlights of the graduation ceremony will include a keynote address by actress Kathleen Bradley (Price is Right), the presentation of the graduates by actress/philanthropist and PATH supporter Rhonda Fleming, and closing remarks by PATH founder Claire West Orr.
  2. 2. Since 1984, PATH Partners and its family of agencies have been committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness by providing services and building housing for people in need. Now a regional organization with national influence, PATH Partners also helps communities integrate support services with permanent housing through capacity-building, creative partnerships and community mobilization. For more information about PATH or the graduation ceremony, please contact Kai Stansberry at PATH Partners at (323) 644-2212 or (213) 761-0159. ###
