Retailers have been experimenting with selling
products shown on television shows and
commercials in real time: Old Navy partnered
with Shazam, giving mobile users an easy way
to buy featured outfits, and Verizon paired with
TV Wallet to sell items seen on several History
Channel shows. eBay, which plans a big push
into TV commerce via partnerships with media
entities, recently added a Watch With eBay
feature to its iPad app. In 2012, watch for a
gold rush as product placement deals open a
new channel for retailers, media companies
and app developers.
