Paper fans, many of them Millennials, are dialing
back on digital and penning notes sent through
the mail. Etsy is packed with stationery products,
and U.K. retailer John Lewis reported a 79%
year-over-year increase in writing-paper sales in
mid-2011. The further from email the better, with
letterpress-printed cards and embossed papers
especially popular; some stationery fans write
with fountain pens. This ties into our 2012 trend
Objectifying Objects, an embrace of the physical
and tactile.
