Motivational Objects
In the digital era, the value of intellectual
property is up for grabs, since consumers used
to feel they were paying in part for the record or
the printing costs. So-called motivational objects
are one solution: physical items that accompany
the digital property, increasing the perception of
value and satisfying a need for tangibility. A few
bands have experimented with the idea, selling
novelty items,T-shirts and even cassette box sets
that all come with a download option.
