  1. 1. About the book… In the book Rules, by Cynthia Lord, there is a preteen girl named Catherine. She is the main character. Her little brother, David, has autism. One aspect of autism is difficulty communicating and socializing. Catherine writes rules to help David understand communication and socialization.
  2. 2. One example of a rule from this book is, “A real conversation takes two people.” If we were going to write our own rules, they would include….
  3. 3. 1.) Wait, but don’t worry.
  4. 4. 2.) If you have to choose something make a good choice, and you might get more than you expect.
  5. 5. 3.) Don’t hope for things you WILL get, but hope for things you may NOT get.
  6. 6. 4.) A person might be smiling, but it doesn’t mean they are happy.
  7. 7. 5.) Speak for those who fear speaking.
  8. 8. 6.) Sometimes when you prove a point, you pay a price.
