"But others fellon good ground, sprang up, and yielded acrop a hundredfold."

Ashe was scattering the seed, some fell alongthe path; it was trampled on, and the birdsate it up.• Psalm 119: 105 Your word is a lamp for myfeet, a light on my path.• 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire thepure milk of the word, that you may growthereby!

Statement of faith of the IBCP!• We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible to be theinfallible written Word of God, verbally inspired by theHoly Spirit to the extent of its smallest part, inerrant inthe original manuscripts and the only final authority inall matters of faith and conduct. The Scriptures arewithout error or misstatement in all matters on whichthey speak, including matters of moral and spiritualteaching, historical facts, and scientific facts.• They are totally sufficient and must not be added to,superseded, or changed by later tradition, extra-biblical revelation, or worldly wisdom. Every doctrinalformulation, whether of creed, confession, or theologymust be put to the test of the full counsel of God inHoly Scripture.
  7. 7. II; The trials• VV 13 Those on the rocky ground are theones who receive the word with joy whenthey hear it, but they have no root. Theybelieve for a while, but in the time oftesting they fall away. 14 The seed thatfell among thorns stands for those whohear, but as they go on their way they arechoked by life’s worries, riches andpleasures, and they do not mature.
  8. 8. • Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I amwith you; do not be dismayed, for I amyour God. I will strengthen you and helpyou; I will hold you with my righteousright hand.

III; Our Heart• Negative; V; 12 Those along the path are theones who hear, and then the devil comes andtakes away the word from their hearts, so thatthey may not believe and be saved.• Matthew 22; 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lordyour God with all your heart and with all yoursoul and with all your mind!• Positive; V 15 But the seed on good soil standsfor those with a noble (Honest) and good heart,who hear the word, retain it (hold it), and bypersevering produce a crop!
