  3. 3. Introduction <ul><li>It is an autoimmune disorder. </li></ul><ul><li>Type 1 diabetes also called “juvenile diabetes”. </li></ul><ul><li>Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness, kidney disease, limb amputation and heart disease. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Objective <ul><li>Demonstrate  how glucose levels in Type 1 diabetic rats affects the regeneration of beta cells in the pancreas.  </li></ul>
  5. 5. Hypothesis <ul><li>The rats with type 1 diabetes that will have their glucose levels moderated will regenerate beta cells for the production of insulin. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Methodology <ul><li>The rats will be divided in three groups. </li></ul><ul><li>First Group: control group, nondiabetec rats </li></ul><ul><li>The two other group rats are injected with Streptozotocin. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Methodology <ul><li>Second Group: their glucose level will be higher than normal. </li></ul><ul><li>The rats will be introduced with meals rich in carbohydrates. Ones that have a lot of glucose. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Methodology <ul><li>Third Group: their glucose levels will be moderate to normal. </li></ul><ul><li>Injecting insulin </li></ul><ul><li>Low carbohydrate diet </li></ul>
  9. 9. Methodology <ul><li>Measuring glucose levels during fasting and two hours after every meal. </li></ul><ul><li>Every three months, measure the glycated hemoglobin. </li></ul><ul><li>Experiment trial for 6 months. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Expected Results <ul><li>The third group, the one with their glucose levels moderate to normal, should regenerate 50% of beta cells. </li></ul>
