  3. 3. <ul><li>CS has been building wells in Ghana over the past 5 years: </li></ul><ul><li>The CS Foundation (our registered charity) and CS Procurement (our cocoa buying department) established a partnership with the Kuapa Kokoo Social Development Fund (farmers’ collective in Ghana) to build wells and provide clean water to cocoa growing villages in Ghana. The partnership was extended late 2003 when we also began working to build wells and improve sanitation with the international charity WaterAid. </li></ul><ul><li>Project extended in Summer 2003 </li></ul><ul><li>CTB launched ‘Ghana for the Source’ a way for employees to get involved and raise money to build wells </li></ul>GHANA WELLS PROJECT-INTRODUCTION

CADBURY’S RELATIONSHIP WITH GHANA <ul><li>Our links with Ghana stretch right back to the Cadbury Bros who helped start up Ghana’s cocoa growing industry in 1908 </li></ul><ul><li>As with Bournville, the company was as committed to the “human side” as the commercial, and invested in welfare and education to help the farmers establish cocoa farms producing a quality, sustainable crop </li></ul>

GHANA: SOURCE OF CADBURY UK’S COCOA <ul><li>Cadbury UK buys most of its cocoa beans from Ghana </li></ul><ul><li>Ghanaian cocoa is recognised to be the world’s finest - commanding a significant premium on the world market for its quality and taste </li></ul><ul><li>Ghanaian cocoa is normally grown on small, family-owned farms </li></ul>
