  2. 2. Himeji Castle is a flatland-mountain Japanese castle complex located in Himeji and comprising 83 wooden buildings. It is occasionally known as “White Heron Castle" because of its brilliant white exterior. It is one of Japan’s “Three Famous Castles,” and is the most visited castle in Japan.
  3. 12. Himeji Castle Nishioyashiki-Ato Garden 'Koko-en' Himeji Koko-en is composed of nine separate gardens, making use of the exact former site of where Nishi-Oyashiki (the Lord's West Residence) and other samurai houses once existed.

  8. 26. Iwatayama Monkey Park The Iwatayama Monkey Park on the slopes of Mount Arashiyama. Over 170 monkeys live at the park. While the monkeys are wild, they have become accustomed to humans. Visitors can approach and photograph the monkeys. At the summit is a fenced enclosure, from within which visitors can feed the monkeys. Careful not to stare at the monkeys in the eyes, or they feel challenged and may show aggression!
