This presentation is a template for anyone that wants to know a systematic process to study or exams and quizzes. Or... for folks that know, but want to review key areas to ensure that their process of studying is the best it can be.
Besides being used by staff as a resource for setting their student up for success. I use it as a basic assignment prior to our first exams in both semesters. My students access it frequently in order to hone their study process.

  2. 2.  Even the best students catch themselves sometimes “burning the candle from both ends”  This means budgeting yourself enough time to learn gets lost amongst all your “other” priorities… sports, games, social life… this results in you finding out at the last minute you’ve no time to study.  Remember, your education is the most important priority. It will help determine your long term success, so it’s good to give yourself enough time to succeed. jschmied©2015

  4. 4.  Study each concept, scenario & vocabulary word until you can do each …  THREE TIMES CORRECTLY !  Ideas on how to do this: ◦ Study alone with no distractions ◦ Index cards – This is a tried and true method! ◦ Have a Parent quiz you – good because they can often help you with other examples ◦ Knowledgeable friends – Good if focused & not too social! blog.intohigher.com jschmied©2015

Use these resources to help you succeed. ◦ Unit Study Guide – use as a checklist. ◦ Unit Portfolio – go over each activity ◦ Class Website – Go over all presentations etc.. ◦ Online Class presentations and vclips ◦ (Edmodo) Quizzes – Review errors ◦ Help Sheets – review & check for understanding ◦ Activities & Unit Notes – review with examples ◦ Teammates & Knowledgeable Friends  Remember to focus on the task at hand vs to socialize! www.examiner.com jschmied©2015
  6. 6.  Check Vocabulary first ◦ See if you understand each word used in every activity ◦ If not, highlight & look these up.  Look at the Concepts next!  (ex: Informed consent, Situational Analysis, Clinical Trial… etc. ) ◦ See if you understand each ◦ highlight the concepts you don’t know & review these first  Learn the items you’ve highlighted  Finally, review every topic in the unit students.ou.edu jschmied©2015
  7. 7.  Look at old assignments in your portfolio for ◦ Concepts in Context – how is this concept used?  What other examples do I know of that are similar? ◦ Problems - Review how to solve scenarios, math or word problems, write conclusions, etc ◦ Mistakes & Misconceptions Find the mistakes in your portfolio  Correct & Highlight each error  Study so that you can answer questions on any topic! ii.library.jhu.edujschmied©2015
