What Worked (Personal) I managed the workload of what people were doing in thetechnical team and ensured the smooth delivery of the show. As DSM I taken the lead on ensuring all technical aspects ofthe show were working ready for the plotting session. I put in extra time after the rehearsals to ensure that propsand costume were ready for the rehearsals so the actorscould work with them before the dress run. I ensured communication was at its highest level by talking tothe cast, crew , creative and technical team. This was doneto make sure everyone was up to speed with what was goingon and knew what was going to happen next.
What Worked (Personal) I attend all production meetings and gave back all myrehearsal notes to the relevant people so that props, soundeffects, set and other key elements could be sourced anddesigned. I successfully managed a large group of people. I ran the technical rehearsal with the stage manager. On the nights of the show I cued all technical aspects of theshow.
What Didn’t (Personal)The Issue To Fix Next TimeLoss of focus in high stresssituations.To remember that all problemscan be solved and don’t allow myemotions to cloud my judgments.Communication between staff andstudents.Ensure that the information is truebefore passing it on to otherpeople to avoid miss-communication.Cross job roles. Where it was notneeded.For example: In situations wherethings were need e.g. soundeffects I would get them because Ihad them and not ask the relevantpeople.Ensure that the right people dotheir task and not put as muchpressure on myself to for fill otherjob roles because they areneeded.
Personal Targets To ask for more help when I need it. Make sure there is a clear view on targets for the groupand what has and hasn’t been done. Don’t cross job roles where it is not needed. Ensure that communication is at its highest level at alltimes.
What Worked (The Team) The technical and creative team worked well together The team for filled their job roles. The team all were punctual and were there when needed. This was key as that we were on a strict schedule to ensurethat we went up on the right date. People stayed within their job roles and did not cross intoother jobs. Everyone did their job, however helped others where needed. The team challenged themselves to learn something newwhile working on the show. They all pushed themselves in learning their job roles to thenext level.
What Didn’t (The Team)The Issue To Fix Next TimeReturn of communication! Communication is key in theproduction process anThe group did not know what do toafter there task had beencompleted.Make a to do list for the wholegroup to follow, also ensure thatmeeting minutes gets emailed toeveryone.Some people took a more laid backapproach to their job role as theyknew someone else would do it forthem.Ensure that everyone is pushed todo their job role.
Team Improvements To understand their job role to a higher level to ensurethe highest quality show. Have more defined roles for example: RF for allmicrophones on the show. To work on communication. Input more ideas when planning. To develop a better production plan.
