• I can’t eat school dinners anymore. I think that
  stuff’s nasty. Why do I have to keep eating chips,
  burgers, sweets, etc I eat at school 5 days a week
  and I am tired of it. Me and my friends are sick of
  eating garbage. Also why don’t you give the
  students more food?

• To the restaurant manager:
• I purchased lunch from your restaurant during the
  week. The diet at this high school should be
  healthier. It is Important nowadays to have a fat
  free diet. Food must be well-balanced and
  sufficient
• I have been a regular customer at your shop for
  several years. However, if this is to be the standard
  of the produce, I shall take my custom elsewhere in
  future.

•   FORMAL
•   Formal texts are impersonal, objective and neutral
•   Formal texts are tentative and indirect
•   Longer paragraphs, tightly organised
•   INFORMAL
•   Informal texts are direct, straightforward
•   Looser organisation, may rely on short paragraphs
•    Personal, subjective and emotive
FORMAL AND INFORMAL
Informal to formal means moving from the kind of
speech we would use when talking with friends
colloquial, Jargon, poetic. Less than informal=
  Vulgar.
I can’t go there because I got sick, I probably
  end up going to the hospital

FORMAL Means sophisticated writing or speaking
  you use at your job, meetings, academic writing,
  cultural, business.
Good morning:
‘I will be unable to attend this afternoon’s
  appointment
as I have contracted an infection, for which I will
  need to visit the doctor.’
