2. There are two main guidance principles.
1. That the works should be allowed to
reach the widest suitable audience
2. That the adults should be free to
choose what they see along as it remains
within the law and is not harmful
3. There are 3 main qualifications
1. whether the material is in conflict with
the law
2. whether the material is in combination
or similar with content
3. whether the material will influence anti
social behaviour among people or is
clearly unacceptable in the public

4. Factors that Affect Classification
1. Content (sex, language, violence)
2. Tone & Impact (ways its shown)
3. Release Format (possibility of younger
people watching video is considered
5. There are issues that affect classification
1. Discrimination (offensive material etc.)
2. Drugs (No work taken as a whole may promote
use of drugs)
3. Horror (frightening elements may scare an
audience)
4. Imitable behaviour (portrayal of criminal
and violent activity will affect classification
5. Language (people can be offended by bad
language)
6. 6. Nudity - natural nudity is acceptable
but with no sexual content
7. Sex - this is the portrayal of sexual activity
which can range from kissing and
verbal references to 'making love'.
8. Theme - how different things are represented,
drug abuse, paedophilia, etc.
9. Violence - the degree of violence affects
classification
10. Titles - the way titles are shown may incite hatred
on certain people
11. Photo or Pattern Sensitivity, motion sickness
and reactions to low frequency sound - some
people may be sensitive to some effects
