• Your Desision Determines Your Destiny

    1. 1. Your Decision Determines
Your Destiny
Effective Leadership Requires Making Wise Decisions
2. 2. Deuteronomy 30:19
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”
3. 3. Joshua 24: 14-21
“Now, therefore, fear the lord and serve him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the river and Egypt, and serve the Lord. And if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve;
4. 4. Joshua 24: 14-21
whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the river, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. And the people answered and said. “…We will also serve the Lord.”
5. 5. Conclusions about Our Choices
Leaders bring PEOPLE to a point of decision.
In some areas, we have no CHOICE.
In some areas, we do have a CHOICE.
We are RESPONSIBLE to make right choices.
6. 6. Conclusions about Our Choices
The SOONER we make right choices the better.
Leaders make choices FIRST.
A leader’s choice INFLUENCES others.
7. 7. CONDITIONS
CHOICES
Birth Adulthood
AGE
In our early years, our life is determined mainly by our conditions. A baby does not choose his family or environment. But as his age increases, so do his options.
8. 8. The difference between the condition and choices is as follows:
9. 9. Six Phases of Decision Making
FOUNDATION STAGE- What is the history?
FACT STAGE- What are the facts?
FEEDBACK STAGE- What are the emotions?
FOCUS STAGE – What is the wise choice?
At this point, you make a decision
10. 10. Six Phases of Decision Making
FRUIT STAGE – How can this decision bear fruit and be successful?
FORWARD STAGE – When do we move?
11. 11. Six Phases of Decision Making
You determine the right time to move forward and take a step.
Remember these important truths:
The wrong decision at the wrong time = DISASTER
The wrong decision at the right time = MISTAKE
The right decision at the wrong time = UNACCEPTANCE
The right decision at the right time = SUCCESS
12. 12. A Process for Decision Making (James 1:1-8)
In James 1:1-8, we read a three-step process for making decisions.
James tells us what to do if we lack wisdom yet face an important choice.
Here are this three steps:
CONTEMPLATION(v.2-4)
SUPPLICATION(v.5)
ANTICIPATION(v.6-8
13. 13. Decision Making in the Gray Areas
( 1 Corinthians 10:24-33)
1. PRIORITIZE GOD’S PEOPLE
Ask yourself: Who will benefit most from this decision?

2. PURSUE GOD’S GLORY
Ask yourself: Does this decision give people a better picture of who God is?

3. PERCEIVE GOD’S PURPOSE
Ask yourself: Will this decision please God and fulfill His purpose?
14. 14. Principles on Decision Making
Choice, not chance, determines my DESTINY.
To choose not to decide is to choose to let SOMEONE ELSE control my life.
To choose to decide is to take RESPONSIBILITY.
Indecision is the mark of a FEARFULmind.
15. 15. Principles on Decision Making
Decisiveness is the mark of a LEADER.
Followers can live without certainty, but they cannot live without CLARITY.
The leader, who INSISTS on perfect knowledge before he decides, never decides..
16. 16. Principles on Decision Making
Decisions RELEASE energy, insight commitment, and support.
The larger the group of followers, the greater PRESSURE to conform.
Great people are ordinary people who make extraordinary DECISIONS.
17. 17. Principles on Decision Making
Decisions should be made at the LOWEST level possible in an organization.
Success is not for the chosen, but for the few who CHOOSE.
18. 18. ASSESSMENT:
What decisions in your leadership do you hesitate to make?

Why do you hesitate? What makes decisions difficult to make?
19. 19. APPLICATION:
List two action steps you can take to make better decisions.
1.

2.
