New Jersey Cardiologist Awarded $7.4 Million in Drunk Driving Case A renowned New Jersey cardiologist was injured severely in a drunk driving automobile accident in Hackensack, but it is the Excelsior Apartment complex that will be footing his medical bills. The complex was tasked with paying out nearly $7.5 million to Dr. Henry Lau after a jury found Excelsior responsible for allowing an underage party that served alcohol.

Lau, who was represented by New York defense attorney Joe Tacopina, suffered two broken legs, a broken pelvis and back, and several broken ribs. The apartment complex was implicated in the accident due to its hosting of a pool party where alcohol was served and, apparently, IDs were
