The Evolution of Tomb Raider: Mise en scene, Sound, and Editing Techniques
1. Mise en scene... Chromakey/green screen – Images from the game are on screen behind interview. All mise en scene relates to the game or computer technology. There is use of front projection this is were the archive material is projected on to the person and background instead of just the background.
2. Sound ...... There is use of game music and arcade music. Game sound effects are included. There is music throughout this act as a music bed underneath interviews. Dance music is used. A Madonna song is played when one woman refers to her and her feminism. The voice over is a younger male voice this is relevant because the it is typical younger males who play Tomb Raider.
3. Editing .... Game footage behind interview. One interview the game footage is projected on to background and face. Movie footage behind interview. Man in television - creator of game : only person to be edited in a different way. Zoom in on websites. Fast motion going in to cybercafé. Repeated use of Lara Croft gun footage – recurring motive. Game footage and movie footage are cut together.
