School Uniforms Essay
For many year, the idea of school uniform has been viewed in society as the norm. Now that many
our society is changing; many believe that school uniform should be removed, however I believe
that schools should enforce uniforms. During a news study, today.com stated "More than 19% of
public school increased the enforcement of uniform code" (Today.com). The increase of school
uniforms shows there is a greater positive result. This increase shows that many school should
start adopting it. School uniforms can save a student from the many troubles he/she faces.
Uniform policy allows for students to be in a stable environment, be ready to concentrate on
learning, and less likely to be discriminated One of the goals of public schools is to create a secure
environment for their students. A way that school uniform supports this idea of forming less
violence. The reduction of violence is another way to have students focus on the significant of
school. Many suggest that school uniform can reduce the amount of thief, and negative peer
pressure. The sociology behind everyone feeling comfortable being around people who dress the
same way they do can create less friction between two different people. Many of the bullying can
happen to what is being worn by others. In a study shown by Long Beach officials, after establishing
a school uniform the amount of violent has decreased 36% (Publicschoolreview). This can correlate
to many factors including gang related violence. Where many gang

Socialization and You: Students in Uniform Uniforms have helped develop many children socially
into the people they are today. Presented in argument form is how the role expectations, social
control, and values of being in uniform have helped me succeed. Being in school uniforms at an
early age has centralized me to this idea. High school was the first time without being in uniform for
me. It was a culture shock. People made fun of what you wore some days, or would look at you
wrong. You were no longer on the same level as your peers. It was difficult to fathom for me.
Uniforms have their own subculture and are an excellent idea.

By wearing a school uniform, one is not apt to get made fun of. Everyone is in the same apparel
and can't scrutinize any part of another child's outfit. By feeling that everyone is the same, that is
one less worry on a child's mind. This leaves more room for educational worries rather than
individual ones. Socially this has sculptured me to realizing what is important. A Child's need to be
fashionable brings along another dilemma for school violence. Children no doubt will envy other
children's clothing and lack the financial resources to purchase similar styles. Subsequently, children
have been violently injured or even murdered, in upper grades, for their trendy clothes, sneakers, or
professional sport–team gear. "With clothing shown by music videos and television sitcoms, more
children wear similar styles of baggy, oversized shirts and pants to school. Such clothing can
become a means of transporting weapons or drugs into school and thus indirectly increase school
violence"(King). School uniforms reduce these occurrences. The solution of school uniforms is a
definite aid in decreasing a child's worries about getting harassed, and most importantly their safety.
It particularly protects females because revealing clothing isn't an issue. These days' girls as young
as ten are wearing provocative clothing such as mini skirts, tube tops, skimpy bikinis, and not

School Uniforms: A Non–Military Proposal for Sweden's Students The word school uniform has
negative connotations for many people. It makes them think of war, of soldier, of death,
brainwashed airheads doing exactly the same as everybody else. It makes them think of reformed,
collectivized groups of people with no personal identity. There are, however, reasons for the
existence of the uniform; one of them being, as the name suggests, the purpose of uniting. At
schools all around the world the school uniform is a key factor to the success of the students. Sweden
currently does not apply the rule of a school dress code, but there is a definitive need for one. School
uniforms are...show more content...
And if it means that teenagers will stop killing each other over designer jackets, then public
schools should be able to require school uniforms" (Clinton, 1996). Studies have shown that
when students are wearing uniforms there is a big difference in their behavior and their
academic results in school. In his essay (Skiba, 2000) Skiba presents evidence from different
studies (Cohn, 1996 and Loesch, 1995) suggesting that when children wear a uniform to school
they are less likely to be associated with a gang and the dangers of walking pass the wrong
neighborhood on the way to and from school is therefor eliminated. Loesch also points out that the
dress code in schools help "establish a calm, businesslike school climate." (Loesch, 1995). In the
Long Beach School District all forms of violence, beatings, hooliganism and other serious
misbehaving offenses have almost disappeared since they decided all students have to wear uniform.
(Cohn, 1996.) Another good example of how students seem to be thinking is this study where almost
three hundred students were asked to describe pictures of people dressed in different clothes. Nearly
all the students participating in the survey described the uniform–clad illustrations as "better
behaved" and "more academically

Think of a way where everyone looked like the other. This means that people come in the same
shape, wear the same colour and kind of dresses, act and behave in the same manner and are
referred to in the same manner. How stress–free would it be to differentiate between one person and
the other? In case you wanted to reward or punish, what are the challenges that you would be likely
to face? The answer is numerous. This is the scenario posed by the fact that most educational
institutions prefer that their students attend school in uniforms so that they can look unique and for
easy identification as a unit. There are several justifications that are provided for the advantages of
wearing school uniform as by students. However, these cannot be measured...show more content...
The dress code is one of these aspects. Wearing school uniforms forms part of the stringent rules that
should be followed by students. In this case, they act as a great nuisance since students feel locked
up when they are in uniform. It brings about the feeling that nobody knows the actual personality of
the students. The ability to wear what they want creates an individual personal feeling that makes
every individual different. In addition, it offers the students a chance to get various lessons from this
diversity. Thus, not wearing school uniform enables students to express themselves and enhances
their chances to be creative.
Nobody likes to have extra costs on them. It is related to the fact that parents have an
understanding of the great load that comes with the need to foot a number of bills. Paying school
fees and other school amenities are among them. Having to make additional payments to purchase
school uniform is an extra burden. Therefore, the lack of requirement to wear a school uniform is a
good thing. This is because students are offered the chance to wear what they wear at home. This is
a cost effective strategy since parents do not need to worry about buying different clothes to use in
the varied

Essay On School Uniforms
Should our school have school uniforms or not? The topic of school uniforms is an interesting
topic due to the many views that people have on them. This issue is important because it could
prevent the issue of bullying. It also could also make teens get to know each other based on
character, rather than appearance. Many teens are judged based on how they look or what they are
wearing. The students are the ones most affected by this issue. My claim is that school uniforms
should be enforced because it could prevent students from bullying. Having uniforms could also
help teens stop judging and labeling people by how they look or dress. People should get to know
each other based on how they and who they are as a person. If everyone wore the same thing there
could be a less tendency to judge others based on what they wear. Teens should learns that their
individuality comes from within, not necessarily from what they wear or how they look. Some
reasons and evidence that supports my claim are that studies have shown that most of the time
the root of bullying is how another dresses. I have noticed that teenagers (myself included) tend to
judge someone based on how they choose to dress. If someone does not dress up to standards,
people tend to think they are weird or they should be avoided. This shows that people tend to focus
on how someone dresses more that how they act. One can dress up to standards, but they could also
be a really mean person. This could go the other way as

School Uniform Is Good Or Bad?
SCHOOL UNIFORMS
The school uniform is good or bad? This is a question debated in many schools. School uniforms
have many advantages and disadvantages; it depends on the thought and opinion of each person.
Some people think that school uniforms display the discipline, obedience of students and it helps
students can save time in choosing the outfit every day; it helps poor students have equality with
everyone in school; it helps students be distinct from other people and it makes students feel proud
of their school. Some people think that school uniforms are not good because it make them feel
uncomfortable, they do not want to see other students wear the same clothes with them; it prevents
individual personality and creativity, lack of originality and expression of each student. In my
opinion, wearing school uniform is good for students.
School uniforms display the discipline and obedience. It helps students a polite appearance and
courteous behavior with which students need. At the same time, this is also a way to avoid having
students dress inconsistently with the school environment. Not only have that, school uniform also a
tool to help schools manage students better. School uniform will help remind obligations and
responsibilities of students. Therefore, when students see the uniform, they will try to study hard and
do not an argument with the teacher or other students in the class. Previously, most of the private
schools require school uniform, but currently some public

The dress code is one of these aspects. Wearing school uniforms forms part of the stringent rules that should be followed by students. In this case, they act as a great nuisance since students feel locked up when they are in uniform. It brings about the feeling that nobody knows the actual personality of the students. The ability to wear what they want creates an individual personal feeling that makes every individual different. In addition, it offers the students a chance to get various lessons from this diversity. Thus, not wearing school uniform enables students to express themselves and enhances their chances to be creative. Nobody likes to have extra costs on them. It is related to the fact that parents have an understanding of the great load that comes with the need to foot a number of bills. Paying school fees and other school amenities are among them. Having to make additional payments to purchase school uniform is an extra burden. Therefore, the lack of requirement to wear a school uniform is a good thing. This is because students are offered the chance to wear what they wear at home. This is a cost effective strategy since parents do not need to worry about buying different clothes to use in the varied Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay On School Uniforms Should our school have school uniforms or not? The topic of school uniforms is an interesting topic due to the many views that people have on them. This issue is important because it could prevent the issue of bullying. It also could also make teens get to know each other based on character, rather than appearance. Many teens are judged based on how they look or what they are wearing. The students are the ones most affected by this issue. My claim is that school uniforms should be enforced because it could prevent students from bullying. Having uniforms could also help teens stop judging and labeling people by how they look or dress. People should get to know each other based on how they and who they are as a person. If everyone wore the same thing there could be a less tendency to judge others based on what they wear. Teens should learns that their individuality comes from within, not necessarily from what they wear or how they look. Some reasons and evidence that supports my claim are that studies have shown that most of the time the root of bullying is how another dresses. I have noticed that teenagers (myself included) tend to judge someone based on how they choose to dress. If someone does not dress up to standards, people tend to think they are weird or they should be avoided. This shows that people tend to focus on how someone dresses more that how they act. One can dress up to standards, but they could also be a really mean person. This could go the other way as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Children who feel safe and secure will better learn basic American values. In return they will learn the basis of good citizenship and become better students. In response to growing levels of violence in our schools, many parents, teachers, and school officials have been forced to look toward school uniforms as one potentially positive way to reduce discipline problems and increase school safety. A uniform policy must also prohibit items that undermine the integrity of the uniform, such as a sweatshirt that bears a political message but also covers or replaces the type of shirt required by the uniform policy. There is another big issue within the implementation of school uniforms. Schools must determine whether to have a voluntary or mandatory school uniform policy. Some schools have adopted completely voluntary school uniform policy, which permits students to freely choose whether and under what circumstances they will wear the school uniform. On the other hand, some schools have determined that it is both warranted and more effective to adopt a mandatory uniform policy. When a mandatory school uniform policy is adopted, there must be a determination as to whether to have an "opt out" provision In most cases, school districts with mandatory policies allow students, with parental consent, to "opt out" of the school uniform requirements. Some schools have determined, however, that a mandatory policy with no "opt out" provision is necessary to address a disruptive atmosphere. A Phoenix, Arizona school, for example, adopted a mandatory policy requiring students to wear school uniforms, or attend another public school. That Phoenix schools' uniform policy was recently upheld by a state trial Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I wanted to take the negative of it because I want to freely choose the clothes that I want to wear. I didn't want someone to choose the clothes that I'm going to wear. After, a while of researching this topic, I decided to take the positive side of schooluniforms. In fact, these uniforms will help students become more focus in their school work instead of what they 're wearing, because they don't have to worry to fit in with the cool crowd or have to worry if their clothes match. I will try to convince these students and parents that school uniforms have a positive impact. • 15. Persuasive Speech On School Uniforms Have you ever had to wear a school uniform? Did you you love it, or hate it? I'm here today to explain my stance on school uniforms. I believe that having a school uniform would be a good thing for multiple reasons. The first being how it would completely and utterly eradicate the issue of dress code. The next reason is how it would be able to create a more focused learning environment by eliminating clothing distractions. The most important reason in my mind however, is how it could drastically increase student safety at school. Now I will go a bit more in depth as I explain these reasons... As aforementioned, uniforms are very beneficial for a multitude of reasons. The first being how dress code issues are completely eliminated through uniforms. I mean, even here uniforms and dress code issues have been brought up a ton! I was in honors civics last trimester and we had to do an issue project about problems at this school, and how we could fix it. We had to present these things in front of Mr.Farley and a couple school administrators. Something that was majorly brought up was dress code, and how unfair it is between the genders. Think about that! Even here dress code is a big problem, and if it's an issue here, then imagine how bad it must be at some other schools. Another big benefit to having a school uniform is the increase of student safety in multiple things. The first, is the reduction of bullying. This happens at schools with mandatory uniforms because it gives bullies less ammunition. Bullies have less ammunition because social status and wealth are not visible to other students because everyone is wearing the same thing. Another thing more broad than bullying is physical student safety. For example, at a K–8 school system in Long Beach,CA enforced a two year mandatory uniform policy and the results were staggering. Assault reports dropped by 34%. Sex offences got cut by a whopping 74%! Fighting incidents decreased by 51%, and vandalism dropped by 18%. It is crazy to me how much things can improve in just two short years by having kids wear uniforms. One more thing, is that it makes it a lot easier to identify trespassers. I mean think of all the school shootings that have Get more content on HelpWriting.net

School Uniforms Are Not A Good Idea Essay school uniforms are not a good idea because they can increase bullies, they are financial burdens that give nothing in return, and they are bad for student's morale. Some school uniform policies can increase bullying or violence at schools. According to Marian Wilde on of the thing that people who oppose uniforms say is that they increase the number of incidents of bullying done by students from other schools. This makes sense because if they don't have uniforms than they may put themselves above us. According to ProCon.org in there is no evidence in bullying literature that supports a reduction in violence due to school uniforms. and this makes sense because why would someone who is hurting you stop because you are wearing the same clothes....show more content... Uniforms can decrease morale in turn decreasing the work ethic in school, like in the last paragraph when people were being bullied about how they look in their uniform, it could also lead to insecurities about how you look, distracting you from learning (Silverman). • 17. Pros And Cons Of School Uniform Essay Are School Uniforms a Good or Bad Idea? School uniforms has been the cause of debate for many years now. Most students like to wear school uniforms because they believe uniforms make schools ("safer for students") and create "level playing fields" where every student has equal opportunity to succeed and they all apply the same set of rules. However, students and even most parents don't agree with the enforcement with school uniforms; stating that uniforms take away the right of ("self–expression"). Yes, uniforms limit what the students have to choose to wear to school every day, but it doesn't limit them from learning; the only reason they are in school. Although some parents oppose...show more content... However, such an argument completely ignores the fact that students with uniforms behave properly and focus completely on their academic careers and may improve their attendance and discipline (Elisabetta Gentile and Scott A. Imberman, 2010). For example, a 2010 study by researchers at the University of Houston found that the average absence rate for girls in middle and high school decreased by 7% after the introduction of uniforms. The study also found that "behavioral problems shift[ed] towards less severe infractions (Elisabetta Gentile and Scott A. Imberman, 2010). Another study also showed positive result that school uniform policies improve rate of attendance, graduation and suspension (Virginia Ann Bendel Draa, 2005). So this all proves that school uniforms have impacted in positive results, which we can ignore. The final argument stated by the opponents of school uniforms is that school uniforms emphasizes on ("socio–economic divisions") that the school uniforms are supposed to eliminate. They believe it will not lower the socio–economic status of the people because rich families will stay buy their children every now and then, but the poor families will still have one pair to in the whole school year (US Department of Education and Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2014). There is much to say about how having mandatory school uniforms will help these problems. My question is, will uniforms help these problems enough to dismiss the hurt that they would cause? I say the uniforms do little to help. Having uniforms would stop the teasing and discrimination about clothing, but there is more to tease or discriminate someone about rather than just clothing. Should Students Wear Uniform In School Essay niform is a standard set of clothes which is worn by a group of people. But it seems that more and more people say that it may not be a must for students wearing their school uniform. People debate on this issue for many times. There are certain reasons why a student should wear uniform to go to school. School uniform is identification for students. It is a respect to the school. And also, wearing uniform can show the tidiness and discipline of the school, decrease discrimination among peers. Further more, it can save the students' time on choosing what to wear to school. It is a place for study, not a place for fashion. Students should concentrate on their study but not their clothes. On the contrary, there are voices from the students saying that there will be more freedom wearing casual clothes. They also say that uniforms are expensive and ugly, and even some of them say that they feel shameful when they wearing those ugly clothes walking on the streets. Is that really so bad to wear uniform to school. Let's have a deeper look at those reasons. Firstly, a uniform represents the school. Proponents believe that school uniforms have been a major contribution to this decrease. What is the purpose of a school uniform? Where did this idea come from? Whether to wear a uniform or not has been a major debate for decades. The idea has been debated since the 1980's and was an issue when candidates ran for president in the 1990's. "Parochial and private schools have a long history of using school uniforms to project an atmosphere of uniformity, pride, loyalty, and equality among the student population" ("Educational Schools Uniforms," 1997). There are some purposes suggested by proponents of school uniforms. Since the Columbine High School tragedy, "school leaders have been grasping at any policy that could contribute to a more civil, safe and tolerant school environment" (Marchant, 1999). If every student in a school wore the same type of clothing, it would be easy for school officials to detect an intruder. This could possibly decrease violence and theft from outside the student body. Gangs have become a large problem in areas of the United States.
