Today’s Issues <ul><li>Alumni outreach had been sporadic and inconsistent from 2003-2007 </li></ul><ul><li>Poor outreach resulted in low levels of awareness and participation </li></ul><ul><li>Development of the Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation’s Annual Giving Campaign has stalled </li></ul><ul><li>$400,000 shortfall in amount raised for the 2002-2003 restoration </li></ul><ul><li>‘ Less-than-favorable’ terms for payback of the $400,000 financed for the restoration </li></ul>

Alumni Outreach Phase I <ul><li>Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of our alumni. </li></ul><ul><li>Create consistent and timely communications mechanisms: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Alumni website – NevadaChops.org </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Monthly e-mail blasts </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Quarterly postcard newsletter (for Alumni without e-mail) </li></ul></ul>

Alumni Recruitment Phase II <ul><li>Recruit more Alumni to take an active role in one of the following: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Kappa Lambda House Corporation </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Epsilon-Iota Alumni Council </li></ul></ul><ul><li>We envision both local and regional Alumni involvement </li></ul>

Fundraising Phase III <ul><li>Revamp the old fundraising model (money was raised for a specific project) </li></ul><ul><li>Develop a new model designed to establish perpetual giving to the Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation </li></ul><ul><li>Identify potential investors to: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Help retire the current mortgage </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Build a fund for the next capital improvement </li></ul></ul>

Past Fundraising Efforts <ul><li>In 1955 a fundraising campaign was established to reconstruct the Chapter House </li></ul><ul><ul><li>This effort lasted for two years (1955-56) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>They raised $67,000 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>There were 16 Alumni directly involved in the effort, and dozens of donors </li></ul></ul>

Past Fundraising Efforts <ul><li>The latest house restoration project ran from 1998-2003 </li></ul><ul><ul><li>200 Alumni contributed in excess of $150,000 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>$50,000 of this was directed toward the restoration project </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Total cost of the project was $450,000 – leaving a mortgage of $400,000 </li></ul></ul>

Perpetual Giving Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation <ul><li>Communicate a fundraising strategy designed to compel our Alumni to give a modest $ amount annually </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Focus this giving to build the assets in the Kappa Lambda Educational Foundation (tax deductible) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>We have a database of 750 qualified Alumni (not lost or deceased) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>During our last fundraising campaign, we had 200 donors </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If we could get 600 alumni to give $100 per year, we could raise $60,000 annually </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Imagine what this would mean for the active chapter in scholarships alone! </li></ul></ul>

Perpetual Giving Kappa Lambda House Corporation <ul><ul><li>Encourage a core group of Alumni to invest in the physical structure </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Assume the current $400,000 note </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Establish an investment model that yields a modest, yet favorable return per investor </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Negotiate favorable payback terms for Kappa Lambda House Board (lower interest, faster payoff) </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Enable Kappa Lambda House Corporation to begin building a fund for future restoration efforts </li></ul></ul></ul>
