CAUSES<br />Can be metastatic- spread throughout the body<br />Anyone can get it<br />More likely to occur in adult smokers<br />Men’s chances have decreased, women increased<br />Men are two times more likely to die once having it<br />50% of women with lung cancer are not smokers<br />15% of men with lung cancer are not smokers<br />

ETIOLOGY<br />50 year incubation period<br />Affects mainly the lungs;<br /> can affect other organs<br />Detected by<br /> -chest X-Ray<br /> -blood work<br /> -MRI<br /> -CT scan<br /> -Positron Emisson Scan<br /> -Sputum Cytology Test<br /> -Etc. <br />It is possible for the cancer to reoccur<br />
  4. 4. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS<br />Chronic cough<br />Coughing up blood<br />Shortness of breath<br />Tight chest<br />Loss of appetite<br />Loss of weight<br />Weakness<br />Difficulty swallowing<br />Joint pain<br />Facial swelling<br />Bone pain/ tenderness<br />
  5. 5. PROGNOSIS AND TREATMENT<br />Can be prevented by<br />Not smoking<br />Breathing clean air <br />No asbestos <br />No chemicals<br />Exercise<br />Regular checkups<br />Chemotherapy<br />Radiation or surgery<br />Can be terminal depending on the severity and if it metasizes<br />
