  4. 4. Rate <ul><li>Rate is a quantity that tells us a value in terms of another quantity. </li></ul><ul><li>Most common rate is expressed in terms of time eg. </li></ul><ul><li>speed – distance per time </li></ul><ul><li>(m/s, km/h) </li></ul>
  5. 5. Rate <ul><li>A printer is able to print 16 pages per minute. How long does it take to print a 108 page document? </li></ul><ul><li>Time taken = 108 / 16 </li></ul><ul><li>= 6.75 min </li></ul>Canon
  6. 6. Rate Find the rate, in words per minute, at which a typist types; if the typist completes 6.5 pages in 6 minutes, and each page has an average of 150 words. Number of words = 6.5 x 150 = 975 Rate = 975 / 6 =162.5 words per minute
