News and Information <ul><li>Toronto Television Industry Seeking Sweeter Tax Credits </li></ul><ul><li>Toronto’s film and television industry pleading for help from the federal government </li></ul><ul><li>Attempting to lure American productions back with bigger tax credits. </li></ul><ul><li>- American production dropped to $100 million last year </li></ul><ul><li>- Lack of productions attributed to American states offering better tax breaks </li></ul>

News and Information <ul><li>Library puts Toronto on Movie Map </li></ul><ul><li>Business formed to help film and TV production companies find Toronto locations is closing down </li></ul><ul><li>Comprised of more than 700,000 images of Toronto and GTA locations </li></ul><ul><li>The company will still operate a digital photo service temporarily, but  will likely close within several months </li></ul><ul><li>Has been used by scouts for the film Jumper and for the hit CTV/CBS series Flashpoint , which is shot in Toronto </li></ul>

Activities <ul><li>Toronto International Film Festival </li></ul><ul><li>Will be held Thursday, September 10 to Saturday, September 19, 2009 </li></ul><ul><li>Visitors from all over the world come to see Canadian indie film features as well as North American/worldwide debuts </li></ul><ul><li>Films from as many as 64 countries are shown </li></ul><ul><li>More than 340,000 admissions expected </li></ul>

Los Angeles Film and Television Cluster The Los Angeles Film Festival takes place for ten days in June, annually. - Shows off the best that America has to offer in the film industry, -Draws in approximately 85,000 people from Los Angeles and all over the world - Includes live performances and special events, as well as more than 100 other films being featured

New York Film and Television Cluster - Film and television industry says it needs government help to remain in New York. - News conference at Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens, where film and television workers gathered to see if the incentive program would in fact be expanded - 19 television pilots filmed locally in 2008, but none even planned for 2009
