Science hub

  1. 2. The Science Hub Health, Safety and Appropriate Behaviour
  2. 3. <ul><li>The Science Hub includes laboratory facilities, so please follow the additional procedures in place for your safety. </li></ul>Normal college rules also apply
  3. 4. <ul><li>The Science Hub is divided into two main areas... </li></ul>Class & Drop-In Area Laboratory Area
  4. 5. <ul><li>No food and drink is allowed in the Science Hub </li></ul>No food and drink If you need to eat or drink you must leave the hub.
  5. 6. <ul><li>Please do not enter the lab area unless you are participating in lab work. </li></ul>Do not handle any equipment unless instructed to do so. All belongings must be placed under benches. Do not run.
  6. 7. <ul><li>Please respect other students by keeping noise levels low. </li></ul>Please follow any instructions from staff to keep particular areas clear for set-up or preparation work.
  7. 8. You may be asked to wear safety gear. Safety
  8. 9. Do not taste anything. Wash your hands before leaving the lab area. Inform a teacher or technician of any spills, breakages or other incidents.
  9. 10. <ul><li>Do not tamper with... </li></ul>Do not dispose of rubbish in the sinks. water taps gas taps electrical outlets
  10. 11. <ul><li>You may use silent phone functions (texting, internet) in the drop-in area. </li></ul>If you are found using a mobile during class or lab sessions, your phone will be confiscated until the end of the lesson. Please leave the science hub if you wish to make or receive phone calls. Please switch off mobile phones before class or lab sessions.
  11. 12. <ul><li>If you misbehave or fail to follow safety procedures, you will be asked to leave the science hub. </li></ul>In cases of serious safety breaches, you will be withdrawn from science courses and may be asked to leave college.
