  7. 7. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling thegood news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
  8. 8. You know what has happened throughout Judea,beginning in Galilee* after the baptism that John preached*— how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing allwho were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
  9. 9. We are witnesses of everything he did in thecountry of the Jews and in Jerusalem. Theykilled him by hanging him on a tree*, butGod raised him from the dead* on the thirdday and caused him to be seen.
  10. 10. He was not seen by all the people, but bywitnesses whom God had alreadychosen—by us who ate and drank withhim after he rose from the dead.
  11. 11. He commanded us topreach to the people andto testify that he is theone whom God appointedas judge* of the living*and the dead*. All theprophets testify about himthat everyone whobelieves in him receivesforgiveness of sinsthrough his name.
  12. 12. While Peter was still speaking thesewords, the Holy Spirit* came on all whoheard the message.
  13. 13. The circumcised believers who had comewith Peter were astonished that the gift ofthe Holy Spirit had been poured out evenon the Gentiles. For they heard themspeaking in*tongues and praising God.Italian Arabic Spanish Greek Hebrew English

  15. 15. Now those who hadbeen scattered bythe persecution inconnection withStephen traveled asfar as* Phoenicia,Cyprus and Antioch,telling the messageonly to Jews.
  16. 16. Some of them,however, men fromCyprus and Cyrene,*went to Antioch andbegan to speak toGreeks also, tellingthem the good newsabout the Lord Jesus.The Lord’s hand waswith them, and a greatnumber of peoplebelieved and turned tothe Lord.
  17. 17. News of this reached theears of the church atJerusalem, and they sentBarnabas* to Antioch.*When he arrived and sawthe evidence of the graceof God, he was glad andencouraged them all toremain true to the Lordwith all their hearts.
  18. 18. He was agood man, fullof the HolySpirit andfaith, and agreat numberof peoplewere broughtto the Lord.
  19. 19. Then Barnabas went toTarsus* to look forSaul, and when hefound him, he broughthim to Antioch.* So fora whole yearBarnabas* and Saulmet with the churchand taught greatnumbers of people. Thedisciples were calledChristians first atAntioch.
