  • An Opt-In form is a easy way to grow your list. When you sign up for VerticalResponse, there is an opt-in form already set up for you in your account. We recommend adding it to several areas of your website and/or blog. Collect the data you need for your list, email address of course, first and last name, especially if you are going to personalize the data. Just make sure you don’t add too many fields or make them all required, you want to make it easy to for people to sign up.
  • You can add a link in the email by copying the url from the optin form, just click the submit button in the optin form section of your account and then copy the url from the window that opens. I have a screen shot here to show you where the url is but you can get it from the html for the form if you want to look for it in there.
  • Request a response: Include a landing page for them to go to, ask them to call and mention postcard, or bring in the postcard to add them to the list and get the special deal
  • If you're at a tradeshow, at your store, spa, salon or restaurant, you can use some handheld devices. With an iPhone or an Android you can use Bump Technologies' free app. You simply bump your phones together and instantly swap contact information.  Sterizon has a specialized handheld device and application where your customers can type in their email address and it goes right into your VerticalResponse account. There is a monthly fee for that one, but it sounds cool!
  • If you're shipping products, you've got some valuable real estate you're playing with, the box! Include an inbox request on a piece of paper and tout that you've got "email only" offers. Direct them to your website's opt-in form, then after they join your list, direct them to a page where you give them their first promotional offer.
  • One of companies using our system, Birdy Botanicals has a url on the back of their business cards directing people to sign up for their newsletters. Plus, they give a 25% off discount on the first purchase when they do!
  • - Art galleries, software companies (one here has a party every quarter and invites the neighboring businesses), retail shops, consultants (lunch & learn) can all host an event and request attendees to sign up. Hand out sign up forms or have a guest book that they can sign to receive your newsletters.
  • At VR we have pop-ups on our landing pages saying Not ready for an account? Sign up for our newsletter
