  • However, the fall of the music industry was for the projection of iTunes and digital distribution and not based on an actual experimental circumstance; in other words the industry execs did not allow time for digital distribution to make its name amongst Distributors and see where the charts increased and fell. All in all, the outlets like Tower Records, sold out and went under due to projected impressions that would take over distribution on behalf of digital outlets, not based on actual sales records and music charts. Music sales have dropped completely in half since 2007 the year Tower Records went completely under and it was thought by Tower Executives that Digital would take the place of brick and mortar. All in all, the slides represent it well, but there are still hidden meanings as to why the industry sold out and those reasons may be controversial to public viewpoint, especially in the United States and other Societies where Democracy is endorsed. If you notice, all of the outlets went under during the same period between 2003 and 2009 all due to "projected" digital sales. A lot of the companies were bought by Canadian Enterprises such as the Great American Group who owns a large portion of the company that owned Tower Records still to this day, and EMI Canada who bought Virgin Megastores and Virgin Music and shut them down. This could be due to religious beliefs based on the executives of the company. Bottom line, Media has failed to represent Music Distribution in the way it potentially and sophisticatedly has the ability to do so. More Research is needed as to who owns these companies and the reasons they went under. The slides with articles on them could be more in depth, i.e., they could finish the article or have a link next to them to find the article or maybe just the picture and the headline with an abstract and a link to the article.
