Session 2: Bugs, Beetles and Butterflies
In this session students will be investigating line symmetry by making
butterflies out of coloured paper.
Show pictures of butterflies. Look at the wings.
Ask students to make their own butterflies by folding and cutting.
Encourage them to cut out pieces in the wings to add detail.
Discuss line symmetry (reflection).
Extend the activity to making other bugs and beetles by folding and
cutting
Fold a piece of paper in half. On one half draw the outline of half of a
butterfly. Create designs on this half of the wings with paint. Carefully
fold the other half of the paper onto the wet paint. Unfold it to get a
symmetrical pattern.

We are having a big push on presentation of books, the main things I
am looking for are:
• Date in the margin,
• Write as neatly as you can,
• Miss lines,
• Always use a ruler to rule off,
• Put one line through mistakes.
Each day I will be picking a book star (someone that has done all these
things), once a student has been book star 5 times they get a prize!
Today’s book start is Beau, congrats!!!!!
Our poetry books are looking great, Charlie is quite the poet wow!!!!
We enjoyed sharing and exploring sound this afternoon, come in and
