Coal Reserves of India As per the latest NationalInventory on Indian Coal Resources publishedby Geological Survey of India,the total coal resources assessed in the country stand at 301.56 Billion Tonnes as on 01.04.2014. This was stated by Sh. Piyush Goyal, (Minister of state for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy (IndependentCharge) in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today. The Ministerfurther stated that there are sufficient coal resources to meet the demand of Power Sector for a considerableperiod of time. Coal block allocationis a continuousprocess. Recently 17 Coal blocks (14 for power generation and 3 for mining corporation) have been allottedunder government dispensation,the Ministeradded.
