  3. 3. <ul><li>How will you generate interest? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Prizes or free food to offer as incentive for participation in the event would be ideal if items were donated from corporations. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Many businesses have websites at which you can request donations. Or, a letter explaining event and Global Brigades as an organization hand delivered to the manager would suffice </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Some corporations require submission for donations requests several weeks in advance, therefore it is always important to plan ahead </li></ul></ul>Questions to Consider

This must be made clear to all participants of event whether it is towards supplies/brigade or individual brigaders. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>If the donations go towards supplies/brigade, use clever advertising techniques </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>i.e. $15 admission fee = 6 meters of piping to carry clean water to a village in Honduras </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Towards brigaders flight and in-country costs: “Send (brigader) to Honduras!” </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Profit split only with those brigaders who participate/attend event. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Only to those brigaders who organize event on the committee. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Not ideal for large brigades. </li></ul></ul></ul>Questions to Consider
  5. 5. <ul><li>Plausability? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Do you have enough time? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Too many conflicts to work around? </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Enough support from fellow brigaders? </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The biggest reason why fundraising event planning fall apart or a low revenue is because of poor commitment to event organization and all responsibility fell upon one person. </li></ul>Questions to Consider
  6. 6. <ul><li>  Beginning Preparation for Individual/Group Fundraising: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Fundraising teams comprised of 4-7 people.   </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>These fundraising teams (which includes everyone in the club) is given a number they should ideally fundraise to.   </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Within each group, there is an appointed fundraising leader </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>This just attempts to ensure that everyone is doing their part to fundraise the money. </li></ul></ul>Phase One

  11. 11. <ul><li>Family and Friends: Internet Campaign! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Set up a facebook event, invite everyone you know to donate, encourage as little as $10 donations </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Provide direct link to Intelis to donate to individual brigaders (link found on Intelis) </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Send bi-weekly “thank you”-s and reminders to donate </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Don’t spam them </li></ul></ul></ul>Who Do You Ask?

  16. 16. <ul><li>Local Businesses: Look for Deals! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Ask a local merchant to offer “special deals” on certain food items </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Ex: Every time someone orders the “Honduran sub” from the local favorite deli, 10% of the proceeds gets donated to the brigader! </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Change jars </li></ul></ul>Who Do You Ask?
