Contemporary Traditional Maori Culture, Part 1 "Who are the Maori?" By: Julian Gomez 1/12/12 Period:6 Cult...
The Maori are an indigenous culture of New Zealand
New Zealand is a large island in the South Pacific Ocean of the south east coast of Australia
Some contempoary Maori are traditional, some live non-traditional, modern lives.
One tradition of the Maori is the Haka war dance.
Another tradition of the Maori is Ta moko: tattooing or painting the face and body with arching patterns.
Traditional Maori culture is truly an amazing thing to grow up with.
Sadly, like other conquered indigenous people, many Maori struggles with poverty, alcoholism and drug abuse.
