  3. 3. Plot (definition)• Plot is the organizedpattern or sequenceof events that makeup a story. Everyplot is made up of aseries of incidentsthat are related toone another.
  4. 4. 1. Exposition• This usually occurs at the beginning of a shortstory. Here the characters are introduced. We alsolearn about the setting of the story. Mostimportantly, we are introduced to the main conflict(main problem).
  5. 5. 2. Rising Action• This part of the story begins todevelop the conflict(s). A buildingof interest or suspense occurs.
  6. 6. 3. Climax• This is the turning point of the story.Usually the main character comes faceto face with a conflict. The maincharacter will change in some way.
  7. 7. 4. Falling Action• All loose endsof the plot aretied up. Theconflict(s) andclimax aretaken care of.
