  3. 3. Measure Key Outcomes Outcomes are your high-level measures that indicate how well your teams are delivering software, and if it is sustainable. This outcomes chart shows us that we have room for improvement compared to the Industry High Performers. Our practitioners report burnout above industry averages, but lower than average levels of deploy pain. Dark black lines indicate the industry benchmark (50th percentile) for each outcome. Benchmarks are also available at the company level and by industry vertical. The team’s performance on each outcome is represented by how far out the area is shaded. Outcomes with a goal of minimizing (such as burnout) are shown in red.

Capabilities Drive Improvement This capabilities chart reports how the team is doing. • Low on: Change Process, Trunk-based development, WIP Limits and Visualization of Work • High on: Learning Culture, Failure Notification Capabilities are the levers that help you improve outcomes. As you improve your capabilities, you drive improvement in your ability to develop and deliver software both quickly and reliably. Dark black lines indicate the industry benchmark (50th percentile) for each capability. Benchmarks are also available at the company level and by industry vertical. The team’s performance on each capability is represented by how far out the area is shaded. For all capabilities, more is better. Priorities for Improvement CapabilityStrength Impact on Software Delivery Performance This analysis is specific to your organization and identifies which capabilities are your constraints, or bottlenecks, to high technology performance. That is, this tells you which capabilities to focus on first. This lets technology leaders plan resource allocation so their investments will have the highest impact. Running a DORA Assessment follows four stages: 1. Decompose an Organization • Identify the Lines of Business and teams to be assessed 2. Prepare for Assessment • Socialize the survey and prepare email distribution lists 3. Take the Assessment • Everyone takes a 15- to 20-min survey 4.
