7. 7. Help! I have a profile!
If you want to market your business on Facebook, you’ll need to get switched over to a Page
You can convert your personal profile into a business Page – Facebook’s Help Center has instructions on how to do this
All your Friends are automatically converted to “Likes”
Your friends won’t know you’ve switched, they’ll still get your updates same as before
Set up a new personal profile and only invite the close friends you want on there – everyone else is now on your new Page!
8. 8. BONUS: Page Features
Take advantage of these Page features:
Comment as your Page
Like other Pages
Tag Pages you Like in your updates
Feature Pages you Like on your Page
9. 9. Facebook Marketing Strategy
How to Make Sure You Never Run out of Things to Say to Your Facebook Fans
10. 10. Plan Your Updates Ahead!
Brainstorm a list of topics you can talk about and keep a Master List of ideas
Set up a spreadsheet to plan out your content
Include any links right in your spreadsheet so you have them handy
Plan a “theme” for each day or be more spontaneous and unstructured
50% your stuff and 50% other people’s stuff
Schedule your updates ahead of time through
11. 11. Tips & Tricks
Post quick tips, resources, how-tos, articles, tutorials, videos, FAQs, interviews, news, promotions…
Leave room in your schedule to update on the fly as things come up that you want to share
Keep a notepad with you to capture ideas while on the go
12. 12. Landing Pagewith Fan Gate
The One Important Element to Include on your Facebook Page to Attract New Fans
13. 13. Definitions:
Landing Page is the first page that someone lands on when they visit your Facebook Page
This can be your Wall or another sub-page that you specify
Fan Gate is a function that shows one page to non-fans and another page to fans
Non-fans are automatically redirected to the fan page once they click Like
14. 14. Facebook Landing Pages
15. 15. How to set it up
Use a Facebook App for “iFrames”
Some HTML is needed, as well as graphic design skills if you want something really custom and nice
Can include video, audio, images, downloads and just about anything else you’d like to put on there
Have an expert do it for you!
16. 16. What to put on your welcome page?
For non-fans: tell them what they will get when they click “Like” – give them a reason to want to be a fan
For fans: deliver on the promise you made before they clicked “Like”!
Give them an audio, ebook, video, etc
Make it downloadable
Bonus points if it’s something they can’t get anywhere else (use this to entice your followers on other platforms!)
Make it juicy and enticing
19. 19. Respond Promptly
Within a few hours, if possible
Email notifications will tell you when someone had interacted with your Page
Check in with the Page itself every now and then to make sure nothing has been missed
Invite further dialogue with a question in response to a comment
Thank them for their comment
Bonus points if you can email them personally or leave a comment on their Page to thank them
20. 20. Be Interesting, Helpful & Relevant
Share content that your fans actually want to see
Give them tips and info to help them get results NOW
Track which posts get the most interaction so you know what to share more of
Don’t share too many promotions – balance them with lots of free, useful content
32. 32. How to Avoid #1
50% your content, 50% others
80% free content that is useful and helpful
20% targeted promotion – thinks your fans are interested in
Only invite people who would actually be a good fit
Be generous and quick to help
33. 33. #2: Using a Personal Profile instead of a business Page
Even worse: Using a personal Profile, but giving it a business name instead of real name
This is not professional
May be a turnoff to some people
Can be annoying to your friends and family who don’t want to hear about your business all the time
Profile cannot be customized and does not have as many features as a Page
34. 34. How to Avoid #2
Migrate your Profile to a Page
Start a new Page
Move ALL your business stuff over to the Page
Read and follow Facebook’s terms of service
35. 35. #3: Not Posting Regularly & Consistently
Last post was weeks or months ago
Only post once every few days, weeks or even months
No engagement or interaction with fans
Sporadic – bursts of activity followed by quiet periods
36. 36.
