Magazine cover

  1. 1. I used the contrast tool soThat I could darken out thegirl’s face to make her look“eerie” and “anonymous” sothat all the audience can focuson is the doll I used the burn toolMake her hair brighter as well as herPJ’s which make her look “innocent”As they have hearts on them.
  2. 2. I then added the title “Empire” for my magazine. I chose Empire because it is a successful and popular magazine so it would be great publicity for a new horror movie especially if it is a “special horror edition” because Empire rarely does thatwhich makes it more appealing for people because it is different. I used the drop shadow effect to make a slight darkness overshadow empire to go with the “spooky” theme of horror.
  3. 3.  I added the small details suchAs the barcode, date, a websiteso that the reader can find moreInformation online aboutThe issue and a price of theMagazine. I also added aBanner at the bottom withinformation telling the readerThat there is information onthe top 100 horrors empire likeswhich will interest the audienceTo see if they agree.
  4. 4. I decided to move the model to theright of the page because that way youwill be able to see the other cover linesand also the full view of the girl holdingthe doll so the writing doesn’t coverthe dolls face. Also I made the bannerssmaller so you can see more of the girl’sface and her bare foot which I thoughtwas effective because it shows hervulnerability.
  5. 5. I then added the extracover stories to see if itlooked effective which Ibelieve it now does. I alsoadded the cross symbol asmany of Empire’smagazines have thissymbol above their coverstories.
  6. 6. Finally, I added the mainstory cover for mymagazine about our horror“dolly” I have used thesame font as my poster“papyrus” to keep thetheme of the title and Iadded a shadow backdropso it stands out against thephoto but it also adds aneerie effect.
