Case 2. RUDY AND FRANKIE: Two Different Worlds
I. INTRODUCTION
Rudy Paragas and Frankie Taguinod were classmates during elementary
school days. Rudy’s father owns a stall in public market while Frankie’s father
is a certified public accountant. When they’re high school they both enrolled in
the same school. Frankie got better grades than Rudy and Frankie was a
platoon leader while Rudy is private. Frankie enrolled accounting course in
the University of Santo Tomas while Rudy took business management course
in University of the East but unfortunately, Rudy quit during his second year.
Frankie got his college degree with flying colors and became C.P.A so he
decided to go back to Santiago to practice his profession. The two became
successful on their own, Frankie became millionaire while Rudy became
billionaire.
II. GENERAL PROBLEM
A. Frankie is more intelligent than Rudy in Academics
B. Rudy quit on his studies during second year
C. Frankie could not believe that Rudy is richer than him
III. ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION
QUESTION: What would you tell Frankie if he shares his thoughts with you?
- Nothing is permanent, rich may become poor while poor may become rich
and to become successful, it doesn’t necessarily need that you’re
intelligent or with the highest honor, sometimes we need to be productive
and wise.
A. Frankie is more intelligent than Rudy in Academics
- Rudy should have focus in studying his lessons more than anything else.
B. Rudy quit on his studies during second year
- Rudy should have strive more, finds inspiration and be motivated in
studying.
C. Frankie could not believe that Rudy is richer than him
- Frankie must not depend only in his profession to earn money; he should
invest or start on his own business too.
2. IV. SWOT ANALYSIS
S- Frankie got better grades; he took accounting and he finished his course
with flying colors and he became C.P.A
W- Frankie relies only on being an accountant to earn money, he doesn’t
think of other ways to earn bigger income. Rudy is very much ahead of
Frankie in terms of financial success.
O- While practicing his profession, Frankie should have his own business so
that he could earn bigger than his salary and he could invest to the business
of Rudy.
T- Frankie is a millionaire but Rudy was already joining billionaire’s league.
Rudy might become his competitor when he goes into business and maybe
he could never achieve what Rudy had achieved.
V. CONCLUSION
I conclude that Frankie joins the billionaire’s league also and become
business partner of Rudy. I think their friendship became stronger and tight.
VI. RECOMMENDATION
What we are today could not be what we are in the future because no one
knows what tomorrow holds. We should also need to be multi-tasking and
should not rely on one aspect of our life. We must focus on horizon and have
perseverance and hope in the sense that despite of the close canopy of the
forest, there will be a light shining trough.

Case 3. THE DILEMMA: Goodbye, Jimmy, Goodbye
I. INTRODUCTION
Miss Gloria Tadino is the current recruitment supervisor in the human
resource department. She was ordered to analyze the resumes on her desk
and prepare a shortlist of ten applicants to be interviewed. Gloria took a good
look at the requirements for the vacant position. Gloria eliminates first the
thirty applicants who did not meet the requirements and set them aside. While
shuffling the resumes, she noticed one with a name who’s similar to her ex-
boyfriend so she set it aside. She also set aside the resumes of the applicants
that are graduates of the university where his boyfriend is an alumnus and
also the resumes of the applicants who are graduated in the college located
in the provinces so finally, her list is complete.
II. GENERAL PROBLEM
A. Gloria needs to analyze and prepare shortlist of ten names
B. Gloria eliminates applicant unfairly
C. Gloria’s perception to people is unjust
III. ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION
A. Gloria needs to analyze and prepare shortlist of ten names
- They shouldn’t have advertised the vacant position because it’s not a high
position anyway. They should have directly hired someone.
B. Gloria eliminates applicant unfairly
- Gloria shouldn’t involve her personal intentions or feelings in choosing the
applicants because those applicants she eliminated unfairly might be
better than those she picked.
C. Gloria’s perception to people is unjust
- She needs to become open minded and she should learn to give people a
chance to prove their self.
IV. SWOT ANALYSIS
S- Miss Gloria Tadino is recruitment supervisor in the human resources
department. She was assigned in recruiting applicants and she also analyzes
resumes of applicant whether they meet their standard.
4. W- Gloria choose applicants unfairly, she quickly eliminates those applicants
she didn’t want to work with.
O- They might have the best applicant if Miss Gloria chooses applicants not
involving her personal interest.
T- The ten applicants that were chosen might not fit with the job or they might
have attitude problem and worst those eliminated applicants are more
capable and deserving in the vacant position.
V. CONCLUSION
I conclude that all the employees in their establishment are graduates of
universities in Manila as mentioned in the case that she eliminate applicants
that are graduate in provinces. I conclude that some of the employees are not
so competent because of her being choosy. I concluded that she has bad
attitude in their workplace.
VI. RECOMMENDATION
Miss Gloria Tadino should choose applicant depending the credibility of a
person not on his personal interest or feelings towards the person. She
should consider the abilities of an individual and what could they contribute in
the company because she might lose applicant that could possibly become
big asset of the company.
