  5. 5. “A YEAR IS A YEAR”  OIA will award up to 30 credits per year  EXAMPLE: If a student attended a foreign university for two years and one semester:  maximum credits awarded = 75  Maximum credits awarded for a four-year bachelor’s degree = 120

  11. 11. TRANSFER CREDIT EVALUATION IS A THREE-STEP PROCESS But this is the same: The OIA WILL NOT post any transfer credit to SIS until we have official transcripts. What can be done to help the student?  THE OIA WILL issue a “preliminary” evaluation

WHAT INFORMATION DO STUDENTS GET? February 1: Apply to IUPUI and submit unofficial transcripts and a complete application. March 1: Receive admission letter. March 15: Receive a preliminary transfer credit evaluation listing “undistributed” transfer credit(courses generally functioning only as electives) August 15: Arrivein Indianapolis August 16-20: During Orientation week:  Attend orientation at IUPUI  Submit official academic documents to the OIA  OIA will post undistributed transfer credit to student’s IUPUI academic record and it can be viewed by student and academic advisor in the student’s Onestart account  Student will meet with academic advisor who will suggest which undistributed courses to work on getting distributed first (changed from undistributed credits to specific IUPUI courses). Register for classes based on information from placement tests and possible distributed transfer credit  Take Distribution Form, course descriptions, copies of transcripts and other materials to the corresponding academic departments. August 23: Start classes September 6: Academic departments return Distribution Forms to OIA September 10:OIA posts distributed transfer credit to student’s IUPUI academic record and can be viewed in Onestart. November 1: Register for second semester (Spring)
