Harper CO. on March 1-2, 2012.

volunteer. Craig asked the Youth
Volunteer to break one stick and then
try to break a bundle of sticks. This
exercise symbolized the importance
of a community working together to
fight underage drinking.

their hand if they knew someone
that had a drinking problem.
EVERY hand in the audience was
in the air…even our youth
7. There were 540 people present the
night of Town Hall Meeting.
320 of them were the youth of
Harper County
This Town Hall Meeting was the
most successful one the coalition
has organized.
9. Craig was a school teacher for 26 years. His
experience as a teacher made this particular
presentation unique. He clearly understood the
difficulties communities face that fight underage
drinking. Craig spoke to the community about social
hosting and social access. He encouraged parents and
community members to not host parties for the youth
with alcohol present. He spoke to the youth about the
dangers of underage drinking. He shared personal
stories of students he taught that chose to drink
underage age and the consequences they suffered.
One story was of a 16 year old boy that killed 6 people
in a car accident and is now in prison.
11. TWO Kindle Fires were
given away as door prizes.

12. Booths at Town Hall Meeting
Pictured is the members of SADD. SADD gave away pencils, bookmarks, Lifesaver
(candies), and Band Against Bullying bracelets.
13. USD 361 Superintendant at his Booth
Pictured is Keith Custer, USD 361 Superintendant. Keith sat up a booth at the Town
Hall Meeting to discuss adding an auxiliary gymnasium with community members.
14. Harper County Healthy Choices Coalition Booth
The HCHC Coalition had a booth to promote Lions Quest, Strengthening
Families, Youth Friends, and CMCA.
15. Drunk Goggles
Anthony Police Department had a booth. They set up an impaired walking display with
“drunk goggles”. They also gave away literature on underage drinking and bullying
16. Regional Prevention Center Booth
The Regional Prevention Center had a booth to promote the DUI Victim Center
information. They also had the Alco-Pop Display
17. Craig also spoke to our Junior
High and High School on March
1, 2012.
He spoke to the elementary
school and school faculty on
March 2,2012.
21. This Town Hall Meeting
reached more youth and
community members than
any other project we have
completed with the HPUD
Grant. That is why it was
picked as our success story.
