Definition Sustainability is a process concerned with: keeping expenses as low and processes as efficient as can be achieved whilst remaining consistent with good quality and effective performance; maximising income whilst remaining consistent with organizational values, aims and the expectations of, in particular, service users and potential supporters; having a clear strategic funding plan, one which is concerned with the security of future funding sources. Security in this context is almost invariably a matter of having a diverse funding mix, and a good proportion of ‘free’ income. ensuring your organisation has the capacity it needs (skills, knowledge, people) to meet its strategic funding intentions.
