    6. 6. iTero – Parallel Confocal Imaging • Cadent iTero features parallel confocal imaging,not conventional triangulation which utilizes laser and optical scanning to digitally capture the surface and contours of the tooth and gum structure. • The iTero scanner captures 100,000 points of laser light in perfect focus at 300 focal depths of the tooth structure. Type of file obtained • When you scan with Itero or a dental cast scanner , you get an STL file • STL means stereolithographic file. • STL are widely used for: - rapid prototyping - computer-aided manufacturing. (CAD-CAM) - STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three dimensional object without any representation of color, texture or other common CAD model attributes.
