and Constantine for finding the relics of True
Cross in Jerusalem (after 300 years of Jesus’
death) and bought back to Rome
Sagala- a religio-historical beauty pageant held
in the month of May
3. IN THE BICOLANDIA
1. Flores de Mayo is held every Wednesday and Saturday of May.
2. The ritual begins with the recitation of the Rosary.
3. After the ceremony, simple snacks are given.
IN THE KATALUGAN
1. The custom began after the proclamation of dogma of the Immaculate
Conception in 1854 and after the circa 1867 publication of Mariano
Sevilla’s translation of the devotional “Flores de Maria”/
2. In Batangas (Lipa)- Luglugan is held, a nightly devotion and party
honouring the Virgin Mary, devotees offer flowers and prayers to an
image of Mary every night. A party was followed. At the end of the
month, there’s a mass, Santacruzan and procession of the Blessed
Virgin Mary and Luglugan lasts until the following morning.
