ABOUT ME… <ul><li>Jason Yarger; President of Gear Marketing LLC. </li></ul><ul><li>Grew up in Cedarburg, WI. 20 minutes north of Milwaukee </li></ul><ul><li>Graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Communication </li></ul><ul><li>Have a background in Personal Finance and Marketing </li></ul><ul><li>Am not married and do not have any kids </li></ul><ul><li>In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, golfing, and just recently decided to begin training for a half marathon in January. </li></ul>

SECTION 1: WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA? <ul><li>Social media is interactive content created by individuals and published for the public online. </li></ul><ul><li>Instead of information online being written and managed by large companies and computer savvy nerds, Social Media gives a voice to anyone who has something to say. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Actually gives more power to the consumer within business interaction. </li></ul></ul>

SOCIAL MEDIA IS CHANGING HOW INFORMATION IS RECEIVED <ul><li>Changes the way we receive information from a monologue to a dialogue. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>No longer reading news articles or watching CNN. All of these sources are utilizing Social Media as resources. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>The audience is able to interact directly with the publishing party </li></ul><ul><ul><li>This increases the credibility of information that is placed online. </li></ul></ul>

SOCIAL MEDIA AND YOU… <ul><li>While utilizing Social Media, you are introducing yourself to everyone online. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You are displaying information about yourself whether it is personal or professional. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Why would you want all of that online??? </li></ul><ul><li>Social Media is already in use by your clients to seek out info about you and your business. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You might as well make sure the info online is coming directly from the source. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Content will be written by people you interact with. You need to be involved. </li></ul></ul>

Social Media makes that process easier but allowing for mass transfer of information across many sources. </li></ul><ul><li>People are able to: </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Do research into companies and services/ products. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Ask opinions of millions of people regarding a company or individual. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Seek out local companies to utilize for their needs. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>Managing your own content adds value to the information prospective clients see. </li></ul>

SECTION 2: MARKETING WITH SOCIAL MEDIA <ul><li>Who is online? </li></ul><ul><li>More people than you think are online from all demographics. </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>No longer a kids game to play with social media </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>Surprisingly! The largest demographic on Facebook… 35-54 year olds. </li></ul><ul><li>The fastest growing demographic on Facebook… </li></ul><ul><li>55 and older </li></ul>

WHAT DO THESE DEMOGRAPHICS MEAN FOR ME? <ul><li>The 35-54 year olds are the people who are established financially and are looking for many of the products and services everyone here is representing. </li></ul><ul><li>The demographics of who utilizes different social media sources directly affects your marketing attempts! </li></ul><ul><li>It is vital to utilize several Social Media sources in order to appeal to different demographics. </li></ul>

FACEBOOK <ul><li>Facebook is used as a more social site for networking with Social Media. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Created with the intent to stay in contact with class mates. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Turned into one of the worlds biggest social media sites. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Facebook has 91.2 million users in the US </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Has reached nearly 200 million users world wide </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Facebook enables you to stay in contact with and expand upon existing networks. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Used to develop a personal profile which describes your professional life as well. </li></ul></ul>

LINKEDIN <ul><li>LinkedIn is viewed as a more professionally based networking site. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Everyone on this site is there just as we are all here now, to talk about our businesses and help each other grow. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Allows for presentations, work history, recommendations from people you have worked with, awards won, and a description of exactly what you do. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The secondary portion of this resource is to describe a little about your personal life. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>LinkedIn has 11 million users in the US and 20.8 million world wide. </li></ul>

PLAXO <ul><li>Plaxo is a smaller social media site in respect to Facebook and LinkedIn. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>It is similar to Facebook in the sense of a social platform, but is geared towards more professional individuals. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Plaxo is a very quickly growing Social Media site that helps to expand your network as well as place your name in front of more people. </li></ul>

TWITTER <ul><li>Twitter is a “Microblog” </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You post information about yourself just like a normal blog, however you only have 140 characters to do so in. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>It is extremely useful for poling a large amount of people for information about a company, or advertising content which you have written. </li></ul><ul><li>Twitter has 21.9 million visitors per month. </li></ul>
  16. 16. GEAR MARKETING LLC. YOUTUBE <ul><li>YouTube is a fantastic content sharing site. You are able to post and view videos for free. Many companies start viral videos on this site and drive traffic back to their websites and products. </li></ul><ul><li>YouTube currently has 71.9 million users. </li></ul>

HOW WILL SOCIAL MEDIA APPLY TO YOUR MARKETING PLAN? <ul><li>Easier communication with contacts for relationship maintenance </li></ul><ul><li>Easy to create content to inform prospective clients </li></ul><ul><li>Get to know your clients personally </li></ul><ul><li>Build a strong online community/ following </li></ul><ul><li>Brand ones self/ company/ products </li></ul><ul><li>People do business with people, not companies. Your prospective clients can get to know you, and vice versa. </li></ul>
  18. 18. GEAR MARKETING LLC. IMPORTANT REMINDER <ul><li>Social Media is meant to be just that, SOCIAL. Use it that way first. Post information about your self and family. Entertain your audience with pictures of your vacation and funny quotes you encounter on a daily basis. Update your status regularly to keep your audience interested. Once you have captivated your audience you may begin soliciting sales or specials your business is having. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep it social. If people begin to feel you are only friends with them to advertise and sell, they will become offended and de-friend you. </li></ul>

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO <ul><li>Create your Social Media profiles for you </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Facebook, LinkedIn, Plaxo, Twitter, Blog </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Maintain your profiles several times a week so you are constantly in front of your audience. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You do not have to spend the time managing your profiles </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Upload pictures and videos </li></ul><ul><li>Remind you we need to update your status and blog regularly </li></ul><ul><li>Find and e-mail all messages from Social Media directly to you </li></ul><ul><li>Assist in advertising products and specials as well as maintaining your networks </li></ul>
