  7. 7. The Technical Case ● Security ● wp-content, I am looking at you! ○ One bucket for many different permissions levels ● Best practices ○ MVC ○ More consistency in extensions UX ● Layout and language overrides ● Fast AND stable development cycles
  8. 8. WP Philosophy WP ● Read the WP philosophy - https://wordpress.org/about/philosophy/ ● They are striving to meet 80% of needs for entry level end users with a 5 minute install ● Competing with proprietary DIY site-builders (wix, squarespace, godaddy, etc.) Joomla! ● is about power, flexibility, AND simplicity ● I believe that integrators (website builders) are Joomla’s primary audience
  9. 9. The Business Case ● Open source (not-proprietary) - YOU own it! ● No corporate (for profit) sponsor - alignment of interests in community ○ Security strike team (volunteers looking out for the community) ● Secure ○ First to market with 2FA ○ Sucuri stats ■ 55-61% of WP hacked sites were out of date software ● Nearly half of all hacked WP sites are running the up to date version!
