Circle Reflection Max & Julius

 1. 1. Why does the formula for the area of a circle work? By Julius Wright and Max Hoefler
 2. 2. Area of a circle

It is hard to prove that the formula for the area works because a circle has no sides.

 3. 3. Process

First one half of the circle was colored blue. Then the circle was cut into 24 even triangles.

Then the triangles were glued on a piece of paper in a rectangular shape.

 4. 4. Challenges

The process is hard but hopefully you will understand it after slide 5. It was also challenging to put what we found out into formulas.

 5. 5. Solution

A= Length*width

Circumference/2 * radius

PI* Diameter/2 * radius

Pi*2*radius/2 * radius

Pi*r2
